Your Step-by-Step Home Care Guide
Chin filler is a non-surgical aesthetic treatment that uses hyaluronic acid dermal filler to improve chin projection, enhance facial balance and create a stronger, more harmonious profile. Whether your treatment has been performed to lengthen the chin, improve side profile proportions or correct asymmetry, it is normal to experience mild swelling, tenderness and bruising during the first few days. As the filler settles and any swelling subsides, your chin will appear more defined while maintaining a natural-looking result. Following the correct aftercare will help support healing and ensure the best possible outcome from your treatment.
For the safest recovery and the best possible results, please follow the aftercare guide below.
Step 1: Apply a Cold Compress
Apply a clean, wrapped cold compress for short periods during the first 24 hours to help reduce swelling and discomfort.
Step 2: Avoid Pressure on Your Chin
Do not press, massage or rest your chin on your hands for at least 24 hours, as unnecessary pressure may affect how the filler settles.
Step 3: Avoid Exercise and Heat
Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, hot baths and excessive heat for 24–48 hours to minimise swelling and bruising.
Step 4: Sleep on Your Back
Sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated for the first two nights to avoid putting pressure on the treated area.
Step 5: Delay Facial Treatments
Avoid facials, facial massage and dental treatment for at least two weeks unless advised otherwise by your practitioner.
Step 6: Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water to support your body's healing process and help maintain the hydrating properties of hyaluronic acid filler.
Step 7: Allow Time for Results
Your chin may feel firm or appear slightly swollen initially, with the final shape becoming visible once swelling has settled over the next 10–14 days.
Step 8: Attend Your Review Appointment
Attend your follow-up appointment if advised, allowing your practitioner to assess your results and determine whether any refinements are required.
When to Contact AJM Aesthetics
