Your Step-by-Step Home Care Guide
Jawline filler is a non-surgical aesthetic treatment that uses hyaluronic acid dermal filler to enhance jawline definition, improve facial structure and create a stronger, more sculpted profile. Whether your treatment has been performed to sharpen the jawline, improve facial symmetry or reduce the appearance of jowls, it is normal to experience mild swelling, tenderness and occasional bruising during the first few days. As the filler settles and swelling subsides, your jawline will appear more defined and balanced. Following the correct aftercare is essential to support healing and achieve the best possible long-term results.
For the safest recovery and the best possible results, please follow the aftercare guide below.
Step 1: Apply a Cold Compress
Apply a clean, wrapped cold compress for short intervals during the first 24 hours to help minimise swelling and discomfort.
Step 2: Avoid Pressure on Your Jawline
Do not massage, press or repeatedly rest your chin or jaw in your hands for at least 24 hours, allowing the filler to settle correctly.
Step 3: Avoid Exercise and Heat
Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, hot baths and excessive heat for 24–48 hours, as these can increase swelling and bruising.
Step 4: Sleep on Your Back
Sleep on your back with your head elevated for the first two nights to avoid placing pressure on the treated jawline.
Step 5: Delay Dental and Facial Treatments
Avoid dental appointments, facial massages and other facial aesthetic treatments for approximately two weeks unless advised otherwise by your practitioner.
Step 6: Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water to support your body's natural healing process and help maintain the hydrating properties of the dermal filler.
Step 7: Allow Time for Your Results
Your jawline may feel slightly firm or swollen initially, with your final, more sculpted results becoming visible after approximately 10–14 days.
Step 8: Attend Your Review Appointment
If a review appointment has been arranged, attend as recommended so your practitioner can assess your results and make any adjustments if required.
When to Contact AJM Aesthetics
Some swelling, tenderness and bruising are expected following jawline filler treatment. However, please contact AJM Aesthetics immediately if you experience severe or worsening pain, excessive swelling, unusual skin discolouration, blistering, signs of infection or any symptoms that concern you.
Maintaining Your Results
Jawline filler typically lasts between 12 and 18 months, although this varies depending on the product used, your metabolism and lifestyle. Staying hydrated, maintaining a healthy skincare routine and attending maintenance appointments as recommended will help preserve a defined, contoured jawline and long-lasting results.
