Your Step-by-Step Home Care Guide
Nasolabial fold filler is a non-surgical aesthetic treatment that uses hyaluronic acid dermal filler to soften the lines that run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth, often referred to as smile lines or laugh lines. As we age, the natural loss of collagen, elastin and facial volume can cause these folds to become more noticeable. Carefully placed dermal filler helps restore lost support beneath the skin, creating a smoother, more youthful appearance while maintaining natural facial movement and expression. Mild swelling, tenderness and bruising are common following treatment and will gradually settle as the filler integrates with the surrounding tissue. For the safest recovery and the best possible results, please follow the aftercare guide below.
What to expect
Mild swelling, tenderness and redness around the injection sites are common for 24–72 hours.
Small bumps can occur and usually settle as the product integrates.
Bruising is possible and may last up to 7–14 days.
Final results typically settle over 1–2 weeks.
First 24 hours
Keep the area clean. Avoid touching or pressing the treated area.
Avoid makeup on the treated area for 12 hours (or longer if advised).
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours.
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
Avoid heat exposure (sauna/steam room/hot yoga/sunbeds) for 48 hours.
Sleep on your back where possible and avoid pressure on the treated area.
Use a cool compress if needed (lightly, 5–10 minutes at a time).
For the next 2 weeks
Avoid facial treatments (massage, micro-needling, lasers, peels) on the area unless cleared by your practitioner.
Avoid excessive sun/UV exposure and always wear SPF.
Avoid dental work for 2 weeks where possible (or let us know if it’s urgent).
Area-specific aftercare
Avoid exaggerated facial expressions and heavy pressure over the smile line area for 48 hours.
Be mindful when cleansing—use gentle strokes rather than rubbing.
If you wear glasses, avoid them pressing firmly on the mid-face if you feel tender.
