This guide is general aftercare advice. Always follow the personalised instructions given at your appointment.
If you feel unwell, are worried about your symptoms, or think something isn’t right, contact AJM Aesthetics for advice.
If you have severe pain, rapidly worsening swelling, blistering, skin colour changes (white/grey/blue), or any change to your vision, seek urgent medical help immediately.
What to expect
Mild swelling, tenderness and redness around the injection sites are common for 24–72 hours.
Small bumps can occur and usually settle as the product integrates.
Bruising is possible and may last up to 7–14 days.
Final results typically settle over 1–2 weeks.
First 24 hours
Keep the area clean. Avoid touching or pressing the treated area.
Avoid makeup on the treated area for 12 hours (or longer if advised).
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours.
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
Avoid heat exposure (sauna/steam room/hot yoga/sunbeds) for 48 hours.
Sleep on your back where possible and avoid pressure on the treated area.
Use a cool compress if needed (lightly, 5–10 minutes at a time).
For the next 2 weeks
Avoid facial treatments (massage, micro-needling, lasers, peels) on the area unless cleared by your practitioner.
Avoid excessive sun/UV exposure and always wear SPF.
Avoid dental work for 2 weeks where possible (or let us know if it’s urgent).
Area-specific aftercare
Avoid smoking/vaping for at least 24 hours (longer is better) to support healing.
Avoid using straws for 24–48 hours to reduce repetitive lip movement.
Avoid very hot drinks for the first 24 hours.
Keep lips hydrated with a simple, fragrance-free balm.
If you also had lip filler
If your treatment included the lips, expect more swelling for 24–72 hours. Keep the area clean and avoid kissing for 24 hours.
